Now that I'm 60 years of age I decided I should begin a regular exercise program.
I'm very fortunate to live nearby a beautiful little lake (Lake Wendouree in Ballarat) it's a great place to walk the dog or participate in some more energetic forms of exercise.
I've always enjoyed a brisk walk several times a week.
Six weeks ago I purchased my first bicycle, I never had one as a child. I have been enjoying the fresh air cycling around Ballarat nearly every day since.
Yesterday I cycled 35 kms (22 miles) - six laps of the lake, without stopping for a break - 1¾ hours. Today I have no muscle pain. I’m feeling great and looking forward to joining a 60 km ride in February to raise money for cancer research.
My wife (Orr) has also begun cycling, for now she's happy just doing one 6 km lap around the lake. It's more FUN when you have someone to share the experience with.
