Who & What is behind this LifeStyle Blog

At Lifestyle Plus, we believe that every person has it within him or herself to reach their own life goals. We understand that in this day and age, it's possible to have too much information at hand. No matter where you look, people are trying to sell you the latest and greatest cure. While these solutions may work for some people, they don't usually get to the heart of the matter – that true success comes from knowing oneself and from continually working on improving the heart, mind and body.

No matter which path you are on, we believe that life should be a journey of spiritual discovery. It's through this process of living in the present moment that you can truly achieve your greatness. We aim to provide you with articles that will help you find your way, whether you want to improve your health, feel more connected to the life you are living or build up your wealth.

In our journeys, we have found that there are five important keys to making the most of the life you have.

  • Developing an Attitude of Gratitude

If you're too busy focusing on the things that other people have, you're never going to be truly happy with your own life. Achieving personal satisfaction often starts with working towards an “attitude of gratitude.” While we're not the first people to conceive of this idea, we've definitely seen how its effects have improved our lives. Once we started focusing on all of the beautiful things that are already present in our lives, we were able to feel a lot more centered and at peace. Surprisingly, this seems to attract even more of the things that make life worth living.

  • Supporting Your Life

A million dollar bank account isn't necessary to lead a satisfying life, but it's hard to feel happy when you can't make ends meet. We strive to help you find the balance you need. Whether you need help digging your way out of deep debt or want to increase your income by starting your own business, we will give you the information you need to get on the right path. We also believe that it's important to support your body through getting the right nutrition. Healthy eating doesn't have to be about spending a lot of money. It's about making the right choices most of the time.

  • Resting Your Body and Mind

Our society often makes us feel like we need to be in constant motion, but this can leave you feeling run down. It's important to take the time to recharge your body through sleep. We also have found that meditation (i.e. Present Moment Awareness) can help refresh your mind. By starting each day feeling refreshed, you can focus on the things that are most important to you, whether that's climbing the corporate ladder or taking care of the people you love.

Reduce suffering by stopping to breathe and allow things to pass

  • Interacting with Others

No man or woman is an island, and connecting with others is what we believe life is all about. For some, this means developing closer relationships with their loved ones. For others, it's about finding a wide circle of people to connect with, or simply influencing the life of someone in just a small way. We've also found that volunteering in the local community is an excellent way to feel connected to your area and to feel like you're really making a difference.

  • Getting Physical

Whether you're running marathons, cycling, dancing in the living room with the children, or just taking a casual stroll around the block with your own thoughts, daily movement can keep your body healthy, but it also helps you feel happier and more centered. We'll show you how you can find the right types of activities for you so that exercise becomes something you look forward to each day.

Our plan may be simple, but we've found it to be effective. By keeping these five factors in the front of our minds, we've been able to dramatically improve our lives. It's our hope that in sharing our thoughts and ideas with you that you are able to benefit as much as we have.

We love to hear from our readers as well. If you have any questions you'd like to ask us, or you have something you'd like to share on our blog, please don't hesitate to get in touch. We look forward to hearing from you.

Keys to Living a Simple and Satisfied Life

Enjoying a Happy Life is as simple as A, B, C. ALLOW things to be the way they are. BREATHE and avoid spontaneous emotional reactions. Then CHOOSE what is the best course of action; often it can be just to let the situation pass by. Try to see the good in others and treat them the way you would like to be treated. Be thoughtful and help others. Everything comes back.

On this "About Us" page you will discover who's behind the LifeStyle Plus BLOG and how they may be able to help you see life in a more positive light.

Mindfulness - Present Moment Awareness and Meditation

Practicing moment by moment awareness of our immediate environment, bodily functions and thoughts without feeling any anger is important. Actively work on leaving behind regrets and anger from the past, and don't worry too much about what might happen tomorrow.

During meditation, look for peace and happiness right here and now. This learning of acceptance can be thought about through the words of Eckhart Tolle. When people would say to him, "I want what you have. Can you give it to me, or show me how to get it?" he would say, "You have it already. You just can't feel it because your mind is making too much noise." Another thing you can try in order to get to a place of elevated mindfulness is think about the best you have ever felt when waking up on your own, not because of an alarm clock or kids or a dream even, and then go from there.

Paying attention to the present moment and not imagining the future or reliving the past has been scientifically proven to be a key element to living a happy life.

How does mindfulness improve well being?

By being mindful, not only do you get to enjoy the pleasures of life, but you can also engage in fun activities without distractions.

Having peace of mind also helps you deal with forthcoming problems in a much more relaxed manner.

A recent study showed that people who practice mindfulness are known to form deep personal connections with others; also, they are not concerned about their future or worried about their past: they simply live life a day at a time.

Being mindful greatly improves both mental and physical health by:

  • Relieving stress
  • Preventing and treating heart attack and coronary diseases
  • Lowering blood pressure
  • Relieving gastrointestinal difficulties, such as indigestion
  • Improving mental health

Research has proven that mindfulness and meditation used together with cognitive behavioral therapy can treat problems most therapists, especially psychotherapists, have turned to medication to treat. These include the following problems:

  • Substance abuse
  • Relationship conflicts
  • Anxiety disorders
  • OCD (Obsessive Compulsive Disorder)
  • Self-defeating thoughts

The Importance of Adequate Sleep

Long gone are the days when sleep used to be classified not as a necessity but as a luxury. Everyone should try to get eight hours of sleep per night. Here are some of the benefits of adequate sleep:

Adequate sleep improves one's memory. We are able to strengthen skills we learn during the day while sleeping through a process known as consolidation. Dr. Rapoport, an associate at NYU Langone Medical Center, explained that it was easier to learn a new skill after having adequate sleep at night.

Adequate sleep promotes a longer life. Scientists are not yet clear if having too much sleep or too little sleep is an effect or cause of a short lifespan. What's known for sure is that if you sleep better you will certainly live better.

Adequate sleep curtails inflammation, which is infamously associated with coronary diseases, arthritis and also premature body cell aging. According to research performed in 2010, people who sleep for six or fewer hours have a high C-reactive protein count, and this is associated with heart attacks.

Adequate sleep keeps your attention sharp. Lack of sleep has been associated with ADHD symptoms, such as inattentiveness, impulsive behavior and hyperactivity.

When More Than Eight Hours Is A Good Thing

A university based in Stanford performed a study on football players who slept at least 10 hours a night. The study showed that they had more field stamina, less fatigue during exercise and improved speed. This also supports studies performed on swimmers and tennis players.

Follow A Healthy Diet and Drink Plenty of Water

Some aspects of health are mainly influenced by genes we acquire from parents, but our lifestyle also greatly determines how happy and healthy we are. Such lifestyle factors include choice of diet, water intake, supplementation, fitness and physical activities.

Avoiding certain types of foods may assist in prolonging one's life span. Some fats made from hydrogenated vegetable oils mainly found in cookies and margarine can raise the level of low density lipoprotein, which is also referred to as bad cholesterol. Bad cholesterol can lead to obesity, heart attacks and other coronary diseases.

When planning a healthy diet, salt intake should also be considered; reducing salt intake will reduce the risk of getting high blood pressure, so one has a better chance of enjoying a long, healthy life.

Through sweating and also digestion, our body looses vast amounts of water. The amount of water one has to intake depends on a couple of factors, such as the climate one lives in and whether they have any health problems. For example, patients suffering from diabetes are urged by doctors to drink plenty of fluids and eat foods with a high water content, such as cabbage.

Supplementation

We should try, as much as possible, to follow a strict, healthy diet where we always eat on time and only consume the healthiest fruits, vegetables, meats, grains and fats. However, sometimes life gets in the way, our natural defenses decrease with age and we indulge, and so as an insurance, it is important to take a health supplement. The best choices in the market these days seem to be the glutathione building supplements from Max International, such as Cellgevity or MaxOne.

Regular, Moderate Exercise

Due to continuous advances in technology, people nowadays rarely engage in prolonged, strenuous manual work. Recent studies have shown that most adults spend more than seven hours a day sitting down whether at work or during their leisure time. In order to stay healthy, being active for over two hours a week doing a physical activity should be a priority each week.

When we don't exercise regularly or engage in other physically exerting activities, our health is in constant danger. Here are some of the ways exercise benefits our health and our lives:

  1. Engaging in regular physical activity will greatly lower risks of heart attack and other coronary diseases including stroke

  2. Exercise has been proven to prevent cancer occurrence by up to 50%.

  3. Exercise lowers risk of osteoarthritis by up to 83%.

When you work out, your heart beats faster, which strengthens the heart's muscles, lowers blood pressure, increases your metabolism and improves blood flow throughout the body.

Physical activity reduces body fat by converting it into muscle mass, which in turn helps the body's ability to burn calories and makes it less prone to obesity. Also, when you exercise regularly, your body increases its production of high density lipoprotein, which is good cholesterol.

Osteoporosis

This medical condition weakens the bones' structure making them fragile and increasing the chances of them breaking. Recent statistics showed that over 54 million US residents suffered from this condition, but regular weight lifting promotes bone and joint formation. Exercising regularly will prevent bone loss or the fragility associated with old age.

Back Pain

Regular workouts help you improve flexibility and body posture. This is quite important for those who spend 11 hours a day in an office chair. Performing flexibility exercises will also improve muscle strength and endurance.

Is your Income Insufficient and a Hassle to Make?

Material things are impermanent and don't really bring lasting happiness. With the right mindset, one can live simply and enjoy life to the fullest. If you are struggling to afford the basic necessities of life, there are many part-time work from home business opportunities you can explore.
